All film submissions are eligible for an array of awards, including the Adrienne Shelly Excellence in Filmmaking Award that honors the outstanding achievement by a female filmmaker with a $5,000 cash prize, the Showtime Tony Cox Award for Screenwriting in a short and in a feature film, Best Storytelling in a Documentary, Best Writer/Director, and the Audience Award.

A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to participate in the Screenwriters Colony, an annual, month-long retreat where writers are encouraged to find their voice and push the boundaries of their craft under the guidance of established film professionals, an all-expense paid trip to the Festival in June, and a $5,000 cash prize. All competition finalists are invited to a Mentor’s Brunch where they can discuss their projects with NFF’s annual Screenwriters Tributee.
